Gentle Yoga for all Bodies

Physical movement is important at any age. As we age though this becomes imperative to overall health and wellness. While the movement portion or Asanas of our yoga classes is so vital. Spending time in stillness and self inquiry is so important for us to be able to settle our internal and external bodies and come to a place where you can hear your inner teacher or guide with clarity.

Types of Gentle Yoga I offer;

Gentle Mat Yoga is geared specifically for those new to yoga or those who are interested in a gentle practice.  Here we will warm up the body, as well as use slower paced movements to focus on alignment, strength, balance, and flexibility.  Each class will end with an extended period of relaxation. It is recommended that you are able to get up and down comfortably from the mat prior to class. No experience or flexibility required

This chair-based Yoga Class will offer the benefits of other yoga classes but uses a chair as a prop for support and balance. A series of options are given for each posture to allow students to find the optimal balance between support and challenge to meet them where they are at the moment. Here we explore alignment, strength, balance, flexibility, breath, and relaxation.  All are welcome to this class.  No Yoga experience needed. During Adapted chair 1/3 of class is standing using the chair and body for support and balance.

Yin Yoga is a class designed to relax the nervous system in a slow and nourishing way.  Using a variety of support tools and props, we meld gentle movement and stillness to support the fascia, joints and offer a deep waking rest practice.  Yin is opposite of the Yang practice.  The moon, dark and slowness to Yang's Sun, light and movement.  My classes all have an overarching mindfulness approach and merry together the Traditional Chinese medicine of the YIN practice as well as Buddhist teachings of being present where ever our feet may be in any given moment.
